Pearson PACT Procurement meeting
President Callender and VP Lowhar led a delegation of ACCA Platinum and Gold members to a procurement event to outline project opportunities under the airport expansion program. Members learned about some of the opportunities coming down the pipe in construction, electrical works and other areas. It was especially important to learn about their plans to ensure that contractors from the community are involved in the project. Equally or maybe even more important was the opportunity the Platinum and Gold members took to network with the Pearson Team and other major contractors in attendance.
Turner School of Construction Management 2026 Cohort Graduation
Congratulations to the graduates in the Turner School of Construction Management – 2026 Cohort!
The program was designed to help diverse, emerging contractors and construction professionals strengthen their capacity to work on large-scale construction projects.
Learners gained practical insights in:
✔️ Construction project management
✔️ Estimating and bidding strategies
✔️ Scheduling and cost control
✔️ Safety and risk management
✔️ Building relationships with major general contractors
Its hard to convey the energy and enthusiasm the learners brought to the course, but if you had the chance to be in the classroom and the at the graduation, you could feel it.
We want to than our partners the Turner School of Construction Management and Northcrest Developments for their great and ongoing support in delivering this program.
Building Diversity Awards 2026
Congratulations to ACCA member Orise Afam of Span and Spaces (2nd from right) on winning the Contractor to Watch award – presented by ACCA – at the 2026 Building Diversity Awards Presented by TCBN. He is joined by (l-r) xxxx TCBN, Sebastian Clovis, Rosemarie Powell, Executive Director TCBN and Irwin Bess Executive Director Buildforce Canada
The awards and gala were a celebration of excellence for the BIPOC community and its supporters in the Canadian construction industry.
ACCA Board Members were pleased to host several Platinum and Gold members at the event that made for a great evening of socialising and dining and business networking .
