October 3, 2026 marks a big change at the Afro Canadian Contractors Association. It’s Founding President, Stephen Callender will hand the reins of the organisation to a new President as his term limits expires.
Along the way, the Association has laid down a marker as the pre-eminent Associations for Black Contractors primarily in the GTA and across Canada. It has met with success in advocacy for its members and Black contractors as a whole, raising awareness of the issue of systemic challenges they face in the construction sector.
ACCA has also raised awareness among major General Contractors and municipal procurement teams of the expertise and high-quality work in the black contractor community. This has led to several members becoming aware of the possibilities and in fact securing business they had previously not known of.
ACCA has built a significant and growing network of contractors, one of its founding visions that have enabled members to do joint projects, subcontract to each other or pass along information.
Beyond supporting members businesses, ACCA has made a significant community contribution, providing free training to hundreds of Black entrepreneurs and youth to help them grow in the construction sector.
Now as its Founders endorse a new executive team at the annual Fall Mixer, they can reflect on their success so far, and the opportunities ahead. The evening promises to be inspiring with presentations from Stephen, the new President and guest Speakers Lamont and Odeen Wiltshire, co CEOs of the Wiltshire Group
